What to expect in Başakşehir
Başakşehir is a planned district on Istanbul's north-western side, built largely from the 1990s onwards around large housing projects. It includes the Başakşehir estates themselves, Kayaşehir, the İkitelli industrial zone and, to the west, Bahçeşehir, a garden suburb with wide roads, a pond and many gated complexes.
Two things bring most visitors here. Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the country, so patients and their families are a common sight. Sports fans come for the Atatürk Olympic Stadium and the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, and the Mall of Istanbul draws shoppers from across the city.
Pavements in the newer areas are generally wide and the street layout is regular, which helps. The catch is scale: blocks are big, sites are spread out, and distances that look short on a map can take a long time to cover in a wheelchair. Most residents travel by car.

Getting around Başakşehir with a wheelchair
The M3 metro runs through the district, linking Kayaşehir and Başakşehir with Kirazlı, where you can change to the M1B, and on towards Bakırköy. The M9 reaches İkitelli and the Olympic Stadium area from Ataköy. Many City Hospital visitors arrive by car or taxi, as the hospital campus is large and its entrances are spread around it. Bahçeşehir relies mainly on buses and private cars. Ask your accommodation where a car can drop you closest to the door.
Lifts, ramps and boarding help can change from day to day; check with the operator or venue before you rely on them.
Delivery to Başakşehir
Başakşehir is outside the area our standard delivery service covers, so an additional location-based delivery fee applies, quoted for your exact address. Large developments here often have several gates and identical-looking blocks; send the complex name, block letter, gate and a phone number for the person meeting the driver. If you are supporting someone at the City Hospital, delivery to your nearby accommodation is usually the most reliable option.

Can I bring a rented wheelchair to Başakşehir City Hospital?
Families often bring their own chair to appointments here, because walking distances inside a large hospital campus add up quickly. We hand the equipment over at your accommodation, not at the hospital. Check with the hospital about using your own wheelchair in specific wards or clinical areas, as departments may have their own rules.
Will a mobility scooter work in Bahçeşehir?
Bahçeşehir's wide roads and the paths around the pond suit a scooter for short local trips, but kerbs at crossings and thresholds at complex gates vary. A scooter is also bulky to carry in a car. If you plan to go into the city centre as well, a folding manual or lightweight electric wheelchair is easier to take with you.
How much does delivery to Başakşehir cost?
Başakşehir is outside our standard delivery zone, so an additional location-based fee applies on top of the standard delivery and collection charge. It depends on your exact address rather than the district name and is confirmed with your quote. Send your hotel or street address and dates for a full price before you commit.
