What to expect in Büyükçekmece
Büyükçekmece is a coastal district on the far western side of Istanbul, around the lagoon-like Büyükçekmece Lake and along the Sea of Marmara. Its historic centre is known for the long, multi-arched stone bridge across the mouth of the lake, completed by the architect Mimar Sinan in the sixteenth century.
Much of the district is a summer-house coast. Neighbourhoods such as Mimaroba, Kumburgaz and Güzelce fill up with Istanbul families in the warmer months, and newer residential complexes have been built further inland. International visitors are usually here to see family, for a seaside stay or for events on the western edge of the city.
The seafront in some neighbourhoods has level promenades, but the old centre and coastal lanes can be uneven, and many summer houses have steps up to the door. Distances between neighbourhoods are long, so most people get around by car.

Getting around Büyükçekmece with a wheelchair
There is no metro, tram or Marmaray in Büyükçekmece. The Metrobüs ends at Beylikdüzü to the east, and from there buses continue along the D-100 into the district. For most visitors with reduced mobility, a car or pre-booked taxi is the practical way to reach central Istanbul, and journey times depend heavily on traffic. If you rely on public transport, the change at Beylikdüzü means a footbridge, so check the station before you commit to that route.
Lifts, ramps and boarding help can change from day to day; check with the operator or venue before you rely on them.
Delivery to Büyükçekmece
For Büyükçekmece an additional location-based delivery fee applies, quoted for your exact address, and because it is a long way from our Aksaray store we confirm availability and timing before you book. Send the full address, your preferred handover time and whether the house has steps at the entrance. If you are moving between a hotel and an event venue, or changing addresses during your stay, agree the delivery and collection addresses separately.

How far in advance should I book delivery to Büyükçekmece?
Give as much notice as you can, ideally as soon as your dates are fixed. Deliveries to the western coast are planned around traffic on the D-100 and other bookings, so short-notice requests are harder to fit in. Send the address and dates first; we will confirm whether the slot works and quote the fee before you commit.
Will a wheelchair cope with a summer house in Kumburgaz or Mimaroba?
Many summer houses here have steps, gravel paths or garden terraces, and some sites are on gentle slopes. Ask your host for photos of the entrance before you choose. A rollator or crutches may suit someone who can walk short distances, with a folding wheelchair kept for longer outings along the seafront.
How much does delivery to Büyükçekmece cost?
Büyükçekmece is outside our standard delivery zone, so an additional location-based fee applies on top of the standard delivery and collection charge. It depends on your exact address rather than the district name and is confirmed with your quote. Send your hotel or street address and dates for a full price before you commit.
