What to expect in Kartal
Kartal is a working coastal district on the Sea of Marmara, east of Maltepe. It combines a long reclaimed seafront park, the busy streets of the old centre near the shore and newer high-rise housing on the hills towards Yakacık and Soğanlık.
For visitors, Kartal matters mostly for medical and family reasons. The large Dr. Lütfi Kırdar City Hospital and the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse, the main court complex for the Asian side, are both here, and many people come to stay with relatives during treatment or for long family visits.
The seafront is broad and level, but streets climb sharply away from the shore, and the slopes of Dragos and Orhantepe on the Maltepe border are particularly steep. When choosing accommodation, the position relative to the coast and the stations makes a real difference to how far you can comfortably go.

Getting around Kartal with a wheelchair
Kartal is one of the better-connected districts on this side. Marmaray stops at Kartal station near the old centre, and the M4 metro has several stations here, including Kartal, Soğanlık and Hastane-Adliye, which serves the courthouse and the city hospital. The M4 continues east to Pendik and Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Buses and minibuses climb the hills to Yakacık, and the seafront park is most easily reached by taxi or from the Marmaray side.
Lifts, ramps and boarding help can change from day to day; check with the operator or venue before you rely on them.
Delivery to Kartal
Kartal lies outside our standard delivery zone, so an additional location-based fee applies, quoted for your exact address. When the wheelchair is needed for a hospital discharge, share the expected discharge day and your home or hotel address; we deliver there, and a relative can bring the chair to the ward. For hilltop addresses in Yakacık or Orhantepe, a map pin helps the driver find the right entrance.

Can you time a delivery around a discharge from a hospital in Kartal?
Yes, discharge is a common reason for renting in Kartal. Discharge times are often uncertain, so the simplest plan is delivery to the home or hotel shortly before the expected day, after which a relative brings the chair to the ward. If a handover at the hospital itself is essential, ask us first so we can check parking and access.
Is Kartal's seafront park suitable for wheelchair outings?
The reclaimed shoreline park is broad and level, with long paths, lawns and views across to the Princes' Islands, so it suits a gentle outing. The harder part is getting there: several streets drop steeply towards the coast, and you need to cross the shore road. A taxi to the park entrance avoids most of the climb on the way back.
How much does delivery to Kartal cost?
Kartal is outside our standard delivery zone, so an additional location-based fee applies on top of the standard delivery and collection charge. It depends on your exact address rather than the district name and is confirmed with your quote. Send your hotel or street address and dates for a full price before you commit.
