What to expect in Pendik
Pendik is the district many travellers reach first on the Asian side, because Sabiha Gökçen Airport sits on its northern edge near Kurtköy. Closer to the sea it is a large residential district with a busy old centre, a marina and a seafront promenade, and high-speed trains towards Ankara stop at Pendik station.
Visitors here are usually on a short airport stopover, staying with family, or attending a hospital or university. Kurtköy, near the airport, has newer apartment complexes and hotels, while coastal quarters such as Güzelyalı and Kaynarca are older and more densely built.
The seafront is level, but much of the district rises steeply from the coast towards the D-100 and beyond, so a short distance on the map can involve a real climb.

Getting around Pendik with a wheelchair
The M4 metro runs from Kadıköy through Pendik to Sabiha Gökçen Airport, with stops such as Pendik, Tavşantepe and Yayalar-Kurtköy. Marmaray calls at Pendik and Kaynarca near the coast, and Pendik station is also the Istanbul stop for many high-speed trains to Ankara. Taxis and private transfers are the most direct way between the airport and coastal Pendik; if you need an accessible vehicle, book it separately and in advance.

We do not deliver to or collect from Sabiha Gökçen, even though the airport is in Pendik. Can you meet me with a wheelchair at Sabiha Gökçen Airport?
No. We do not deliver or collect at Sabiha Gökçen or any other airport. Ask your airline for passenger assistance from the aircraft to the exit, then travel to your accommodation, where we hand over the rental chair. If you are staying near the airport in Kurtköy, that handover can take place at your hotel on the evening you arrive.
Is Pendik a convenient base if I am flying from Sabiha Gökçen?
For an early flight, staying in Kurtköy or near an M4 station in Pendik keeps the airport transfer short. The trade-off is a long journey to the historic peninsula for sightseeing. If you rent with us, collection can be arranged at your Pendik hotel before you leave, so you never need to bring the chair to the terminal.
