What to expect in Ümraniye
Ümraniye is one of the most populous districts on the Asian side, a large residential and commercial area inland from Üsküdar. Older neighbourhoods such as Çakmak, Namık Kemal and Tantavi sit alongside newer office towers, shopping centres and residence blocks, and the Dudullu organised industrial zone lies to the east.
People rent here mostly for home care, business stays or visits to family. The district spreads across hills, with long slopes between the main avenues, and pavement quality varies from new, wide walkways around the towers to narrow ones in older streets.
Çamlıca Hill and the Bosphorus are a short drive west, which makes Ümraniye a workable base for anyone who prefers a quieter residential setting to the busy waterfront districts.

Getting around Ümraniye with a wheelchair
The M5 metro is the backbone here, running from Üsküdar through Ümraniye, Çarşı, Yamanevler, Çakmak, Ihlamurkuyu and Altınşehir to Dudullu, where it connects with the M8 towards Ataşehir and Bostancı. Walking distances to a station can still be long on sloping streets. By road, the O-1 and TEM motorways make Ümraniye quick to reach from both older Bosphorus bridges outside rush hour, though queues build up heavily at peak times.
Lifts, ramps and boarding help can change from day to day; check with the operator or venue before you rely on them.

Yes. The M5 runs from Ümraniye to Üsküdar without changes, and Üsküdar station connects with Marmaray for the European side and with the pier for ferries. Allow extra time at Üsküdar, where the Marmaray platforms are deep underground; check that the lifts are working and ask station staff for help if needed.
