What to expect in Üsküdar
Üsküdar faces the historic peninsula across the mouth of the Bosphorus and is one of the oldest settlements on the Asian side. Its centre around the ferry pier is a dense mix of Ottoman mosques, markets and transport connections, while the rest of the district is largely residential.
Along the shore, the promenade from Salacak past the Maiden's Tower is level and offers some of the best views of the old city skyline, especially at sunset. Inland the picture changes quickly: the district climbs steeply towards Çamlıca Hill, Bağlarbaşı and Altunizade, and old quarters such as Kuzguncuk and the streets above the pier have narrow pavements and short, sharp gradients.
Further north, the Bosphorus villages of Beylerbeyi, Çengelköy and Kandilli line the coast road, each with a small square and waterside cafés.

Getting around Üsküdar with a wheelchair
Üsküdar is a major interchange. Ferries leave the pier for Eminönü, Karaköy and Beşiktaş; Marmaray's Üsküdar station, one of the deepest on the line, links to Sirkeci and Yenikapı under the Bosphorus; and the M5 metro starts here and runs east to Ümraniye and Çekmeköy. The Metrobüs passes through the district at Altunizade and Burhaniye. Buses follow the coast road north to Beylerbeyi and Çengelköy, a much flatter route than the inland roads.
Lifts, ramps and boarding help can change from day to day; check with the operator or venue before you rely on them.
Delivery to Üsküdar
Üsküdar is outside the standard delivery zone: although it is just across the water from our store, delivery depends on a bridge or tunnel crossing, so an additional fee is confirmed for your address. Hotels near the pier and in Altunizade usually take the handover at reception. For a flat in Kuzguncuk or another hillside lane, tell us whether a car can stop outside, because some streets are very narrow.

Is the Üsküdar waterfront near the Maiden's Tower manageable in a wheelchair?
The shore promenade between Salacak and the Üsküdar pier is mostly level, with benches and cafés facing the old city, and it is the easiest part of Üsküdar to enjoy in a wheelchair. Getting down to it from hillside hotels may involve steep streets, so a short taxi ride to Salacak can save a hard climb back. Visiting the tower itself means a short boat trip; check boarding with the operator.
Should I use Marmaray or the ferry from Üsküdar to Sultanahmet?
Both work, in different ways. Marmaray takes you under the Bosphorus to Sirkeci in minutes, but Üsküdar's platforms are deep and depend on working lifts. The ferry to Eminönü takes longer and involves a gangway, yet the route is simple and scenic. From Sirkeci or Eminönü, Sultanahmet is uphill either way, so the T1 tram or a short taxi ride may help.
Can you deliver to Beylerbeyi or Çengelköy on the Bosphorus?
Yes, these Bosphorus villages are part of Üsküdar and are quoted like any other address in the district. The coast road is narrow and parking is scarce, so tell us whether the building is on the main road or up a side street, and give a phone number so the driver can call when close.
